| Sun n Fun ! |
This weekend no building took place because we were at Sun n Fun! It
was our first time there so it was a lot to take in! We only had two
short days, but we had a plan & managed to hit the important
things. We made it over to the Van's booth first thing on Friday when
we arrived, and inquired about getting a demo in the factory RV-10...
as expected they were booked up... bummer! Looks like my first RV ride
is going to have to wait a bit longer. At least we got to finally sit
in one...
|
Next to the factory plane was Tim Olson's beautiful bird...
|
There were some really impressive acrobatic shows...
|
... and there were some really
strange things to see, like this aluminum boat made into an airplane.
I bet this guy has a few fishin' holes picked out that he can
claim as his own!!
|
The 2006 Sun n Fun was the first civilian airshow performance of an F-22 Raptor...
|
|
But, the highlight of the show was
definitely the Heritage Flight. A mix of old and new... some of
the best in the US's military flying heritage. I don't know the
whole history on it, but a quick google search on "heritage flight"
produces all sorts of information regarding this tradition, including
some really nice galleries of past flights. This time the flight
consisited of a P-51 Mustang, an F-15 Eagle, and an F-22 Raptor.
Just incredible...

| All in all it was a wonderful
time. We got to see lots of neat planes, and checked out all the
glass-panel vendors to get an idea of which direction we'll be going in
the future... it's getting exciting out there in EFIS land (a little
too expensive, but exciting none-the-less!) Now its back to the
grindstone, however... back home and back to work. But the bright
side is we can work on the plane again! |
